PIC History

Nov. 1987

A P.H.H. Fantus study shows Springfield has a lack of industrial sites, both quantity and quality.

Dec. 1990

Springfield's Partnership for Economic Development is formed.

Oct. 1991

Zenith Electronics announces the elimination of 1,500 jobs at it's Springfield location.

Nov. 1992

City Utilities of Springfield acquires the land for the industrial park.

May 1993

The site master plan, developed by Peckham, Guyton, Albers, & Viets (PGAV), is presented to public and private organizations.

Jun. 1993

Partnership Industrial Center Administrative Council is formed to act as the governing body of the industrial center.

Jan. 1994

Contico International announces plans to build a 277,000 sq.ft. plastics manufacturing facility.

Jul. 1998

With only 100 saleable acres remaining the park, the Partnership for Economic Development begins the process of answering if, when, and where the next industrial park should be located.

Feb. 2006

The last available lot, Lot 21, sells to Watts Radiant.  Administration of the industrial park transfers from the PIC Administrative Council to the tenants association.
