The Springfield Business Development Corporation (SBDC), a subsidiary of the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce, is focused on economic development, assisting in job creation and spurring capital investment in the 10-county region. With the financial support of its investors, the SBDC markets the Springfield region nationally, helps local, growing companies succeed, and focuses on creating jobs for people who call this region home.

Delivering results for your investment dollars
Investing in economic development helps the Springfield region compete to bring in new jobs, investment and discretionary income. In the past two years, the SBDC has:
- Directly aided 22 companies in the creation of 1,538 new jobs
- Assisted companies in the creation of $51.6M in new payroll
- Assisted companies that have spent $140.8M in new capital investment

Growing Our Economy
The SBDC is currently seeking additional investment to ramp up economic development efforts in two areas: attracting talented workers to Springfield and more aggressively marketing the region. Approved by the SBDC board in May 2012, these plans will effectively utilize any new monies from current and prospective investors to pay dividends to the region.
