Springfield utility costs far below national average
Dec 09, 2005
Recently released data shows Springfield's utility index in the third quarter of 2005 as the lowest in the United States.
The index is a component of a cost of living report released by ACCRA, a national research association that tracks approximately 300 urban areas across the U.S. The utility analysis measures residential electric and gas rates and local telephone service costs.
Springfield's second and third quarter utility indexes were nearly 30% below the national average index of 100. Below is a table showing ten of the lowest-cost utility locations across the country so far in 2005.
