Nov 29, 2004

Independent economic think tank, Milken Institute, recently released its 2004 analysis of best performing cities in the United States. The analysis shows some very positive signs for Springfield.

Overall, Springfield received the highest ranking in Missouri and a number 62 ranking among the top 200 large metro areas, moving up six spots from 2003.

The strength of Springfield's economy resulted in a number of encouraging figures in the study. In the "One-Year Job Growth" category Springfield ranked 17th in the nation while the "One-Year Wage and Salary Growth" was positioned at 36th overall. Springfield also ranked 57th in the nation in "One-Year High-Tech GDP Growth," yet another optimistic sign for the area.
