Passenger Traffic At Springfield-Branson National Airport Increases Significantly

Jun 11, 2009

As operations relocated to the new airport terminal building in May, passenger numbers at Springfield-Branson National Airport (SGF) skyrocketed during the month.  More than 81,496 passengers moved through the airport on 829 commercial flights in May indicating a 17% increase over May of 2008.

This reverses the trend of declining year-over-year passenger growth and records the 10th largest passenger volume in SGF's history.  The passenger growth is being largely attributed to reduced fares and are perhaps another sign of the relative strength of the regional economy.

All of Springfield's commercial carriers posted growth from May 2008, with Allegiant Air showing the largest increase of 55%, despite the fact that the carriers have combined for an 11% decrease in the number of flights in May of this year.
