NorthStar Battery to expand operations in Partnership Industrial Center

Jul 12, 2004

Less than four years after announcing it would build a $35 million plant in Springfield, NorthStar Battery is planning an expansion to keep up with the company's growth. Over 60,000 square feet will be added to the existing facility which already encompasses nearly 140,000 square feet.

With the physical expansion will come an estimated $5.5 million of capital investment and 60 new jobs, to be created in the next two years, pushing NorthStar's employment close to 200 people.

To make the project possible, NorthStar will be taking advantage of state and local programs such as the Missouri Enterprise Zone and the Customized Training Program.

The expansion announcement comes just a few months after NorthStar received the Choose Environmental Excellence award from the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce for its environmental stewardship, specifically its protection of air and water quality in the region.
