Recently released passenger data for 2005 shows the
Springfield-Branson National Airport had a 23.1% growth in total
passengers. This astonishing growth rate comes on the heels of
a 10.5% growth in 2004.
Much of the growth is attributed to expanded air service, including
two new airlines, Delta and Allegiant, and service to five new
cities--Minneapolis/St. Paul, Cincinnati, Atlanta, Las Vegas, and
Orlando. These expanded options have offered business and
leisure travelers what they need to fly from SGF.
Airport officials have speculated
that 2006 passenger numbers will reach a 10% growth level and could
stretch higher, especially with any announcements of new airlines or
new hub connections. |
