SPRINGFIELD'S
ECONOMIC REACH CONTINUES TO EXPAND |
|
U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis recently expanded Springfield’s
economic area to now including 27 counties across Missouri and
Arkansas and more than 935,000 people.
Used to depict the drawing power of a city, Economic Areas determine
to which metro area each county in the U.S. is economically tied.
Prior to this expansion, Springfield’s economic area included 26
counties, all located in Missouri. The redesignation moved 4
counties from the Springfield economic area’s northern edge to the
newly created Jefferson City metro area, but Springfield pulled 5
counties away from the Little Rock economic area.
