SPRINGFIELD CONTINUES TO DOMINATE STATE JOB GROWTH

Continuing a recent trend, Springfield led the way in Missouri's job growth during the first six months of 2004. Of all jobs created statewide, 36.8 percent were created in the Springfield metro area—that from an area that represents 6.7 percent of the state’s total workforce.

Springfield’s economy has shown remarkable job growth in recent months. For instance, in February alone, Springfield accounted for 60 percent of the state’s year-over-year job growth. Now, data from the first half of 2004 reveals this is a solid trend.
