NEW DEVELOPMENTS BRING $26 MILLION IN
INVESTMENT TO DOWNTOWN SPRINGFIELD

An innovative collection of funding sources have made possible a new exposition center and parking facility that are changing the face of downtown Springfield.

The $16 million expo center combines state and local TIFs with funding from a community improvement district to provide a 140,000 square-foot facility expected to bring conventions and trade shows to Springfield.

The five-deck parking facility was funded by the community improvement district in combination with state and federal monies. Revenue will also be generated by fees from the 975 parking spaces to finance the total project cost of $10 million.

The projects are the newest additions to Jordan Valley Park, which began in 2001 with the opening of an $8 million recreational ice facility. In all, over $100 million in public and private resources will be invested in the area in the next few years.
