NORTHWEST BEGINS
DAILY DETROIT SERVICE AT SGF |
|
Springfield business travelers to Detroit and beyond will have
another choice of flights by the end of October.
Northwest Airlines has announced daily jet service to and from
Detroit, supplementing the weekend-only service it had been
providing from Springfield-Branson Regional Airport. Northwest's
Detroit hub offers extensive eastern seaboard and international
connections.
The service opens a new route for the airline, which has been
connecting Springfield to its Memphis hub via four flights a day. In
response to nearly full capacities on this route, the airline recently upgraded to
larger regional jets, but climbing passenger numbers have created the
need for the new
service. If the Detroit service is successful, the potential
exists for Northwest to add more flights or larger planes. |
