Recently-released data from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis shows
the Springfield metro area's per capita income is growing at a pace
greater than Missouri and the nation.
Between 1990 and 2001 the average annual
income growth was almost six percent for the Springfield MSA, nearly
one percent ahead of the state of Missouri as a whole.
Per capita income is a measure of the
total amount of income divided against the total number
of people in the same area. Springfield's per capita income is
currently $25,756, up from $24,933 the year before and up from
$15,741 in 1990.
Continued growth in the region's per
capita income rate is a key success measure of the Partnership For
Prosperity economic development initiative in Springfield.
