SPRINGFIELD'S GENERAL ELECTRIC FACILITY
PRODUCES 3 MILLIONTH MOTOR

GE Industrial Systems, manufacturers of the GE ECM variable speed motor for HVAC applications, is hosting an open house to mark the three millionth ECM off the production line. The event will be held at the GE facility at 2401 E. Sunshine, Thursday, April 24, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Originally introduced in 1984, ECM motor technology is employed in a variety of residential and commercial air-moving applications. It has an installed base of more than 2.5 million homes and businesses in North America and Europe.
 

 

Locally GE employs 550 people, and contributes to a local manufacturing base in Springfield that provides over $3 billion in economic impact each year.  More than 20,000 people are employed in the manufacturing sector in Springfield's three-county Metropolitan Statistical Area.
