GROWTH FAR OUTPACES
STATE AND FEDERAL RATES |

| Amidst the declining
national economy, the Springfield Metro Area has produced very positive growth
in the the number of jobs. Comparing data from December 2002
to December 2001, Springfield experienced a 2.8% increase while
Missouri showed a decrease of 0.3% and the U.S., as a whole, showed
a 0.1% decrease. Despite some recent plant closings and
layoffs in the area, the Springfield market created a net increase
of nearly 4,800 jobs this past year. |
