After remaining closed for more than seven months, the short-term parking lot at Springfield-Branson Regional Airport reopened today. Springfield travelers will now be able to fully utilize the 173 parking spaces available in short-term parking. Travelers still will not be able to park curbside. The decision comes from the newly formed Transportation Security Administration. The TSA announced this morning that all Category III airports (which includes SGF) will see a "relaxing" of the rule which previously kept all parking 300 feet or more from the front of the terminal building. After the September 11 closure of the short-term parking lot, the airport has been losing approximately $30,000 per month in revenues generated from short-term parking fees.
